Praying With Purpose
Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find: knock, and it shall be opened to you. -Matt. 7:7. From the Pastor Our God is Able! That is the powerful and confident statement three Hebrew men made in the face of a difficult situation. Daniel 3 records the story of three men who dared to believe God and to take Him at His word. Like so many in our society today, they could have easily compromised with the king, ignoring the biblical command of obedience. However, when faced with life or death, compromise or obedience, the three young men of God said "Our God is Able! He is able to deliver us!" "Praying with Purpose is not a new idea. It is simply taking our prayer lives to a new level. As prayer warriors, we must never lose sight of our goal in this prayer ministry: to position ourselves in prayer and "set the watch" to intercede for our church, our families, our nation, and our world. The consistent prayer of our lips is "O God, show us your glory!" As you read this, you will see several opportunities for you to be involved in this prayer ministry. Prayerfully consider what God would have you to do and then sign up! Babylon came within three men of becoming a pagan nation. I believe that God will respond to the faith and the commitment of those who will pray. I belive that through this ministry, God will send revival to our church, our community and our world. Will you join us? -Pastor Kenneth "A Chain Of Love" Join with a group of others who have been placed in a prayer chain. When a need arises in our community or our church, you will be called and informed of the need and asked to stop and pray. Each prayer chain is made up of 8 to 10 people with a group leader. This particular prayer ministry will enable anybody to be a prayer warrior for others. "Watchman Prayer Ministry" Every Sunday morning from 8:45AM to 9:30AM, one or two volunteers gather in our prayer room in the church to pray for the worship services, the pastor, the Sunday School teachers and the people who will worship in our church that day. In addition, worshipers are given the opportunity each week to give specific prayer requests that will prayed over during this time. The number of volunteers determines the frequency that any one person will participate. You can pray at 8:45 and still attend the 11AM worship service with your family. "Wednesday Night Prayer Dear Friend, We remembered you in prayer at The Hertford Baptist Chruch this past Wednesday evening. We prayed for you by name and asked the Lord to freely grant you His Holy Spirit thereby meetiing your every need in Him. The Hertford Baptist Church extends to you our love and sincere wishes for a relationship in Christ which is wholesome and vibrant. If we can ever be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to call on us. Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick; and the 2Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous person can accomplish much" -(James 5:13-17) The above text appears on a letter that is sent each week to people whose name has been shared with us during our Wednesday night service. Names of individuals who may be experiencing difficulties of any kind, are shared with the group and then prayed over. The letter is passed around and signed by everyone present. The letter is then sent to those individuals, to let them know that someone cares for them and is praying for God to meet their needs. We extend these ministries to all who wish to serve God, and to those who may have prayer concerns. If there is a ministry that you would like to participate in or if you have a prayer concern that you would like to share with us, please feel free to email us, and we will add you to our prayer list. |
